Frequently Asked Questions
What are the dimensions of a Fairlead mount?
The Fairlead Mount is compatible with most winches using the universal 10" X 4-1/2" mounting bolt pattern, and with standard-width fairleads using a 10" bolt spacing. The Fairlead Mount installs between the bumper surface and the winch, using the winch's mounting bolts.
Are fairleads universal?
The 10" spacing is universal, so if you buy a roller or hawse fairlead for a 4x4, it'll (almost always!) have these dimensions and bolt up to your winch.
What is the standard winch mounting pattern?
Most winches mount with 4 bolts with a 10" x 4.5" bolt pattern on the forward or bottom face. Some winches use 6 bolts, especially if they're for larger vehicles. 6 hole winch mounts will have a "primary" face with 4 mounting holes and a secondary face with 2 mounting holes.
What is a Fairlead bracket?
The Fairlead Bracket is used to mount your (6” hole spacing) hawse or roller fairlead when there is nothing else in front of the winch to mount the fairlead to.
What size bolts for fairlead?
In some cases, longer bolts are required and 3/8″ Grade 5-Grade 8 bolts in 1.25-1.5″ shank length is a good starting point for fitment. 7/16″ bolts may also be used.
